Crystals with diameter up to 60 mm and 60 - 100 mm length are grown by Czochralsky-Kyropulos method with high frequency and resistive heating. Lead Molybdate AO elements with optical aperture up to 40 ´ 40 mm - are available with the following features: low optical losses, high optical homogeneity, stability to laser radiation. High crystal homogeneity allows to make vacuum thermo - pressure bonding for large aperture devices.
The growth technology applying “know-how” elements was developed for obtaining two different grades of Lead Molybdate. Grade A refers to colorless crystals with extra low optical abortion at 488 nm for application with high CW power argon ion lasers. Grade B crystals having light yellow coloration are developed for the work at 633 nm or larger wavelengths and are characterized by best optical homogeneity and lower solarization effect than colorless crystals. The annealing technique for removing excessive coloration was elaborated.
